Tube for Music Van cd player

Beitrag von mangew »

Hello!

Doesn´t know how english is accepted on this forum but i´m a swedish visitor that found this forum and noticed it was a lot of threads about chinese cd players. Have tried to read a few of these and tried to translate the text and informtaion.

I have ordered an new Jolida Music Van with 12AX7 x2 plus 12AT7 x2 tubes.

On delivery it is probably cheap chinese tubes so i want an upgrade on these. Can anyone suggest matching, good tubes suitable for this cdp? Does anyone have this cd player.

On pictures and specifications does this cdp look like the Lua Cantlinea SEL (2700€) cdp.

Thanks for the answer, i am not really familiar with the german language(sorry) and the topic you submit gets error when i try to translate it with babelfish (web translator) Some other topics about the Jolida JD100S(Jolidas second best cd) for example have i sucsessfully translated but not the topic about the top model Music Van so i have not understood many things from it.

So if anyone could give me a short summary of good tubes suitable for the Music Van would i appreciate this.

Hope Tom_H also could write about his experience since what i understood have some information about these cd players.

Hi mangew,
first of all welcome to our community and congrats. to your CDP. :beer

As Erzkanzler already has told you, I also own the Music Van.
After several slight modifications I am pretty happy with the player in all respects.

My mods in brief:

Exchange of tubes. Original there were EH12AX7 and EH12AT7 built in. This tubes are not bad. After many tubes I have tried and many hours of listening I ended up with the ECC81 and the ECC803S of JJ. These tubes sound sweet and powerfull with a wide soundstage.

Exchange and elimination of OP Amp.
We found out that there are not all OP Amps in the output stage required. The rear OPA is just for the solid state output. So for the tube section this one is not required. For the OPA's themselfes, I put out the 5532 which are really in no way state of the art and replaced the one I am still using with an OPA 627AP. Depending on the used tubes I also like the sound of the 2604. But for the constellation with the JJ tubes I prefer the 627AP.

Thats more or less all what you need to do with this player in order to lift it up into a higher class.

BTW: I also damped (silenced) the lid.

I hope that this has been helpfull for you and would like to read about your experience.

Thanks for the answers, i will try to make the changes. The tubes will i probably manage to change but Opamps is more tricky. Doesn´t know if i manage to change these. In that case i will have to search for someone to do it for me i think.

It seems after i read on this forum that ths cdp Music Van is having changing feedback. The "smaller" Jolida JD100S seems to have better feedback overall. Also the chinese people think JD100S sounds better in some cases and some cases the Music Van.

I beleive that Music Van should have better potential since it have better transport, better DAC so mabye with some modifications it could sound really great!?

I had before the E.sound CD-5, transistor cdp and this sounded really great. One of the best i have heard anyway under 2-3000€ Hope this MV could match this sound.

I can not say, as I never heared the Eastsound.
On the other hand it is a matter of fact that the MV sounds great. Before I had the Opera Ref. 2.3.

Do not hesitate to contact me for any further questions reg. the MV modding. :beer
