Lars Jansson - Giving Recieving -

All music by Lars Jansson. A voice so unique and equipped with such an unmistakable identity that two phases are enough: then you know it is Lars Jansson! He is one of Scandinavia’s leading jazz artists: a tremendous pianist, leader of a superb trio with Lars Danielsson and Anders Kjellberg and a profilic composer. It can be a surprise to no one that he now fronts the seventh edition of Nordic Meeting – an annual recording project at the Swedish Radio in Göteborg, where carefully selected musicians join forces to record new music. The idea is to challange a major Swedish jazz musician to compose for an international ensemble with a Scandinavian profile.
A representative jazz pianist and composer of today's Europe and the Evolution Professor of the National Music College of Aahus in Denmark. Born in Orebro city of Sweden in 1951. Started playing the piano at the age of 5. In 1970, he enrolled in the Faculty of Odontology of Gothenburg University, in 1972 transfered to the School of Music in the University because of never gaving up his passion for music.
After graduation in 1974, started from joining in the Arild Andersen (bass)'s group of Norway in 1975. Recorded with him on ECM. Since then, took part in the top groups of North Europe. In 1979, composed his own trio with Anders Jormin (bass), Anders Kjelberg (drums) but from 1985 Lars Danielsson played the bass. From 1987 to 1988, joined in the Jan Garbarek (tenor sax)'s group and played all over the world.
In 1990, won the Jan Johansson prize which is given to the excellent Swedish musician. And also won the other six prizes. At the same year, joined in the Red Mitchell trio and recorded on Dragon. Mitchell is an American bass master who lived in Sweden those days.
In 1998, the Denmark goverment offered him to be the first music professor in Denmark and he accepted it. He is the Evolution Professor in the National Music College of Aahus in Denmark. In 1998, composed and recorded on "one poem, one painting" (Imogena) for a big band and a piano trio as the 500th anniversary of Uddevalla city. Played the music for the swedish King and Queen. Played in the big band with Bob Mintzer (tenor sax-a member of "Yellow Jackets"). In Nov. 1995, came to Japan for the first time with Yasuhito Mori (bass) who lives in Sweden. In Nov. 1996, played at the Blue Note in Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka as an accompanist for Cecilie Norby (vocal on Blue Note-records). Since 1999, has yearly came to Japan for "Scandinavian Connection" Tour by the trio with Yasuhito Mori and Anders Kjelberg. They were very popular anywhere.

Instructed the Big band Ensemble and the Master course as a guest professor in Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y.,U.S. They came to Japan in May 2000 , 2001 and 2004 with Bohuslan bigband.
