Cayin A-88T / Classic 16.0
Hello! I´m from Portugal and here I don´t find much info about these material...
Before I start I want to appolagise to write in English.
I´m interested in the Cayin A-88T or the Classic 16.0. My speakers are Triangle Celius ES and my budget is 1200 euros. I know that are several people in this posts that have this amps so ...
I know they are made in China. Which of those two you recommend? Can you recommend an website or store to do the order? What price did you paid incluing Import Tax and tranport?
best regards
Miguel from Portugal

Welcome to the forum!
first of all - is there a special reason that you're asking for those two amps?
They are totally different in sound, (build-) quality and -from the top of my mind- price. I don't think these amps are comparable......
Maybe you should tell us more about your preferences. What kind of amp do you have now? Are you looking for a special sound?
Bye!

Thank for yor repply!
I have an AV receiver Yamaha rx-v2600 but I want somenthing more dedicated to Music. So I´m planning to buy an amp and cd player to match my Triangle speakers. Triangle are a litle bright in the medium-high zone so my preference goes for an amp that have an more warm sound...
I chosse that two because they are in my budget range and I read good things about them.
Cheers

okay. I don't know much about the Classic, heard it once, didn't like it very much. But it was to short to really rank it. It was not at my home, not my speakers and not the kind of music I usually listen to.Wireless hat geschrieben:Thank for yor repply!

If you look using Google, you'll find out that most people think it's inferior to the Cayin. This might help:

The Cayin has a pretty good reputation. People who buy it seem to keep it. However, don't forget that the sound of this amp mostly depends on the tubes you use. It might cost you a few hundred Euros to get the tubes you like. The tubes that come with the amp are not bad, but it's like having a fast car and never shift into top gear
Your speakers shouldn't be a problem for both amps.

Did anyone experienced problems with the A-88T?
Can you recommend a place to buy the Cayin A-88T?
For the dealer - check your private mail![]()
Bye!
By the way. In this price range the Cayin A88-T is the best option or you reccomend another one...

At least none which weren't modified....The modified Cayins by certain persons, once well known here, are excellent handcraft made tube amplifiers. Yet they show no problems at all and cannot be compared to the original Cayin A-88T. I saw and heard the difference.

Cayin A88T
Hi wireless,
im glad to welcome you here too!
You asked what users in this forum think about the cayin A88T. I use this
amp since may 2005, for one great year. It is a very fine amp also without any modification. There is no reason to recoment you another amp. If i had to buy a amp at the moment, my choose would be the cayin again!
If you will buy the cayin you will be satisfied.
best regards

Hi. I haven't heard it yet and I assume also nobody else here but an interesting alternative to the Cayin would be the Jungson V88.
http://xxx.hdlt.com/web_htm/product/hifi/v88/wg.htm
I try to get a hold on it (for a listening session) since quite a while but failed so far.
I also agree with the guys before me that the Cayin is a quite safe bet, while the Classic might be a little bit of a gamble.

Mein eigener
Alles klaro?

Hi,
concerning the Shanling STP 80 I can say, that it is a wonderfull amp. I have compared it to a modified Cayin face to face at my KEF Reference 203. With my music (mostly soul with female voices) the Shanling was the clear winner.
Both amps are beautiful build but sounds very different. The Shanling sound warmer with beautifull voices and more like a tube amp. The cayin sounds clearer.
You have to hear both with your electronics and your boxes to decide witch one you will prefer.
Best regards
